BUILD 2013

BUILD 2013

See you in San Francisco

I’m traveling to San Francisco this week to attend Microsoft’s Build conference. Here’s a quick guide the festivities, including when and where you can meet with me.

What: Build 2013 started out as a developer-oriented conference and a follow-up of sorts to previous Microsoft conferences such as PDC (Professional Developers Conference) and WinHEC (Windows Hardware Engineering Conference).

Where: For the first time, Build will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.

When: This year’s show takes place over three days this week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 26, 2013 through June 28, 2013.

Why: Microsoft will launch the Windows 8.1 Milestone Preview at Build 2013 and discuss “what’s next” with many of its other major platforms, including Windows Phone, Windows Azure, Internet Explorer, Office 365, Xbox, and Visual Studio.

Meet me at Build

I’ll be at Build for the duration and will be busy much of the day from Wednesday through Friday. However, I will be attending some related events if you’re interested in meeting with me and catching up.

Thursday

Blogger meet-up. At previous Build conferences, Ryan and Travis Lowermilk arranged amazing Build Blogger Bash events, but since they are not attending this year the other bloggers have been forced to come up with something else. Naturally, we did so poorly with and with much procrastination. However, Mary Jo Foley, Rafael Rivera, many other Windows bloggers and I will be meeting at the Thirsty Bear Brewery on Thursday, June 27 at 6:30 pm for about an hour or so and everyone is invited. The brewery is located at 661 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.

Build Influencers party. After our impromptu meet-up, Mary Jo, Raphael, and I and the other bloggers will be attending a Build Influencers party that is unfortunately open to only 200 people. Each of us will have 5 tickets to give away to this event, so if you see me, Mary Jo, Raphael or the other bloggers at Build, you can try and hit us up for a ticket. This event is also at the Thirsty Bear and starts at 8:00 pm.

Friday

Windows Weekly live recording. On Friday afternoon, we’re all heading up to Petaluma to record the Windows Weekly podcast live at the TWiT Brick House at 5:00 pm. Everyone is invited, and we’ll be serving drinks and hors d'oeuvres. If you’re coming to the Windows Weekly event, please RSVP with [email protected]. But note that you will need to get to Petaluma somehow. The TWiT Brick House is located at 140 Keller Street, Petaluma, CA. This page has directions.

Hopefully, I can see you at Build, if not at one of these events than just in the halls. I’ll be the guy wandering around like a homeless person.

See you in San Francisco!
