Microsoft is Dominating its Competitors in the K-12 Education Segment

Microsoft's Windows 10 is now actively used by over 200 million users each month.

That number is now likely higher since that tidbit of data was revealed nearly two months ago but a recent report from Futuresource indicates that the new OS is having a positive impact on adoption in the K-12 market.

Futuresource is a company that tracks mobile computer sales in the K-12 education market and they specifically pay attention to mobile devices like notebooks, Chromebooks, netbooks and tablets but not desktop systems.

According to Mike Fisher, their associate director of education technology, Windows is the top OS being used by K-12 institutions and accounts for 47% of mobile computer OS in use and last year Microsoft shipped double the number of systems of their closest competitor.

Overall in 2015 Microsoft saw a 20% increase in Windows based device sales.

If you are involved in K-12 education don't forget that Microsoft has some great tools and programs for faculty and students.
