I discussed Slipstreaming a Windows 2000 service pack in tips 2529 and 2661.
When you try to slipstream SP1 into a CD-ROM image on a RIS (Remote Installation Service) server, you receive:
An error has occurred copying files from the Service Pack share to the distribution folder.
Microsoft has not implemented this functionality, but they are considering it for a future service pack.
You can work around this missing functionality:
1. Copy the entire Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM to a shared folder on a server or to a local folder on the RIS server.
2. Slipstream the SP1 files to this folder.
3. Run Risetup.exe on the RIS server and add the new image to the server, using the path to the slipstream, when prompted.
