My company has developed a shutdown application that sets video resolution to the settings that we need at the next startup. If we accidentally use the Start menu's Shut Down button, we must set the resolution on boot. How can we eliminate the Shut Down button from the Start menu?
Open your favorite registry editor and go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent VersionPoliciesExplorer subkey. Add the NoClose value of type REG_DWORD. To remove the Shut Down button from the Start menu, set the value to 1. You can still initiate shutdown by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
