Unisys and BMC Software have formed a joint marketing and sales initiative to deliver cloud management services to enterprises.

The partnership packages BMC’s generation Cloud Lifecycle Management (CLM) offering with the suite of cloud advisory, implementation and management services offered by Unisys. The joint initiative will address strategy, planning, design, implementation and operational management of cloud computing for enterprises.

“Both companies bring a balance of contributions to the offering,” said David Shimberg, senior manager of solutions marketing for BMC. “BMC is delivering the software and all of its associated best practices. Unisys has experience with BMC’s technology and they bring the added ability to maintain and manage cloud environments beyond the planning and deployment phases, which is a huge value to customers.”

BMC has an installed base of customers with Unisys that are requesting more cloud capabilities, Shimberg added. “We want to work aggressively together to meet their needs and expand our offerings to the marketplace at the same time,” he said.

Both companies said they want to help clients avoid “cloud in a corner” computing environments that are not well-integrated with the organization’s existing systems, processes and business models.

“The joint BMC-Unisys solution actually gives clients a way to plan, implement and manage new cloud solutions that integrate with existing, mission-critical IT infrastructure,” Shimberg said.

The initiative is targeting mid-size to large enterprises, especially those that need cloud solutions that can be integrated with existing IT platforms, Shimberg said. The companies cited La Caixa, Spain’s largest savings bank and third largest finance company, as an example of a joint target client.

“They’ve implemented a combined Unisys-BMC cloud offering to streamline their IT services,” Shimberg said.
