Windows Phone Devs will test new financial reporting tools

As Microsoft begins the move to a one stop shop across all devices for Windows 10 the developers of those apps will also eventually see one central location for everything dev related including finances, submissions, downloads, usage stats, etc.

As they prepare for those changes it looks like Microsoft plans to roll some of these features out early to test them out on a smaller scale before converting the entire operation over.

As a pilot for these changes Windows Phone developers will be the first to benefit from this makeover according to a blog post over on the Building Apps for Windows site.

In the Windows Phone Dev Center you will see modifications in how financials are reported for apps:

  • Cleaner, data-rich interface

  • Proceeds by market for app and in-app purchase

  • Transaction-level payout export

Beginning on March 27th developers for Windows Phone will see the new reports that will focus on four key areas:

  • Reserved – the money you earned and not yet available for payment.

  • Upcoming payment – the amount you will be paid in the next payment run.

  • Most recent payment – the amount and date of the last payment you received.

  • Total paid to date – the total amount you’ve been paid since your first payment.

That new graphical report will look like this example:

The export of your financial data will be unavailable from 27 March until 13 April so if you use that info be sure you go in and export all of your data. They recommend you do that before 8 AM PDT on March 27.

Then from 27 March onwards you will be able to log into the Windows Phone Dev Center and access the new report formats by clicking the Payout Summary link in the dashboard.

Of course, in the spirit of openness and feedback there is a UserVoice site to provide your input on the changes.

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.
