If you don't have enough to do already trying to keep Windows 10 up to date with the onslaught of cumulative updates, Microsoft is giving you a little more by releasing technical preview versions of Windows Server 2016, System Center 2016, and Configuration Manager 2016.

Here's the important stuff to know…

Windows Server 2016 TP3 highlights Windows Server Containers and new Software-Defined Datacenter features. It also improves Nano server, Security, Workload support, and management. For a full listing, see: What's New in Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 3. Additionally, the RSAT tools for Windows 10 are also available for download and support remote management of TP3, along with the ability to manage Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

System Center TP3 is highlighted by Virtual Machine Manager advances including support for Nano server as both host and file server, Shielded VMs, and improved Operations Manager capabilities for automating maintenance windows using PowerShell.

System Center Configuration Manager TP3 offers new features including on-premises MDM for Windows 10 devices, cluster-aware settings, support for SQL Server 2014 AlwaysON, and WSUS clean-up tasks. Configuration Manager is released as a separate product than the regular System Center. Configuration Manager is considered more of an on-premises, endpoint management product, while the rest of the System Center suite is designed with Cloud integration in mind.
