Microsoft, GITCA Partner for "24 Hours in the Cloud" Global Event

The Global IT Community Association (GITCA) has partnered with Microsoft to produce a free, 24-hour virtual event (slated for June 1st, 2011) that will provide information on many aspects of cloud computing. Dubbed "24 Hours in the Cloud" and akin to a global virtual tradeshow, the event includes 24 one-hour speaker sessions and keynotes by a diverse assortment of speakers, followed by Q&A sessions over Twitter after each segment. Stephen Ibaraki has posted an interview with outgoing GITCA Chairman Graham Jones and GITCA Chairman-Elect Ashwin Kini about the event on the Canadian IT Manager’s Blog on TechNet.

A few Windows IT Pro editors met with Jones and Kini at TechEd 2011 in Atlanta last week, and they explained that GITCA represents close to 4 million IT professionals and more than 800 separate IT community organizations. According to Jones and Kini, GITCA is also the largest international non-profit community organization focused on advancing the interests of IT professionals, user groups, student IT organizations, and other like-minded communities.

According to a post on the GITCA website, Microsoft and GITCA gathered submissions from the IT community, and the resultant influx of submissions forced the organizers to reschedule the event from the original date of April 19th, 2011 to June 1st, 2011.
