Introducing the #Security Tweet of the Week

Like many people now using Twitter, I initially wasn't thrilled or enthused about using the service. My first impressions of Twitter weren't very positive, especially after seeing dozens of tweeters talking about what they ate for lunch or what their dog just did on their kitchen floor. After holding my nose and taking the plunge, I gradually began to see that Twitter wasn't all about navel gazing and mindless pontificating.

For me, the beauty of Twitter is that it captures the essence of what people are talking about right now. Twitter is essentially a search engine for conversations people are having in real-time, all over the world, 24/7. That's why Twitter can be valuable for the security professional, especially one tasked with keeping tabs on what is happening on a minute-by-minute basis in the IT security landscape.

That's why I'm kicking off a new #Security Tweet of the Week feature for the Security UPDATE newsletter.
