EMC Enters the Hybrid Cloud Space By Combining Offerings

Today at EMC World in Las Vegas, EMC is touting a new Hybrid Cloud solution that can deploy an entire Hybrid Cloud environment in under 48 hours. Well, at least, let's hope so because EMC Global Services and EMC Engineering have promised to showcase the quick Hybrid Cloud construction at the conference.

The end product will use the EMC Hybrid Cloud reference architecture which features Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), PaaS, Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS), automated monitoring and metering and usage transparency, as well as continuous availability.

This new solution is based on a Software-defined Datacenter architecture that combines storage and data protection, big data services, and cloud management and virtualization utilizing VMware. Thought VMware is being utilized now, EMC expects to support both OpenStack and Microsoft Azure soon.

EMC's new solution follows closely with offerings already announced by others which include self-service for business users, on-demand access to popular frameworks for developers, and deployment, management, health monitoring, and control for IT Pros.
