Here comes Windows 10 Mobile Build 10166

Microsoft's Windows Insiders should be a pretty happy collection of testers right about now.

Four desktop Windows 10 builds have been released in the last 12 days (10158, 10159, 10162 and 10166) and now to wrap up this week a new Windows 10 Mobile build has just been pushed out to Insiders on the mobile Fast Ring.

Over on the Blogging Windows site Gabe Aul, our faithful Ring Master, surprised Insiders with news of the latest build.

"There are lots of small changes and feature tweaks in this build, but our major focus over the past few builds on mobile has been about improvements to core quality.

Most of the known issues we listed for Build 10149 have been fixed. We also fixed the issue where the post-upgrade migration status screen was missing, which made the Lock screen appear frozen without the date and time for up to 10 minutes. The post-upgrade migration status screen should appear normally now. We also fixed the issue where you were unable to unlock your phone after entering your PIN and it keeps letting you type even though you entered your pin correctly that was caused by a TPM issue. The colors in apps should now appear correctly including in including the titlebar in the Outlook Mail app which is no longer orange."

As you can see they have worked to address the issues that were in Windows 10 Mobile Build 10149 that was released back on 25 June.  They have even addressed the small icon for the battery in the OS and have increased its size in this build. Sometimes it is the little things that matter the most.

Also, be aware that they have removed the other Windows Store on this build and so only the Windows Store Beta is your portal to apps and updates for those apps.

Windows 10 Mobile is not expected to be available until later this year so it is behind in its overall development compared to the desktop version of Windows 10 which also saw build 10166 delivered this week to testers.

However, we have been told that once Windows 10 for desktops and tablets hits RTM the mobile side will begin to receive a lot more attention as it ramps up towards release.
