The new head of the Windows Insider Program, Dona Sarkar, pushed the infamous red button today on the Microsoft Campus and began the roll out of Windows 10 Build 14361 for both PCs and Mobile devices.
This is the first double release of builds for both platforms since 26 April 2016 and also ushers in what is the expected final stretch of the development of Redstone 1 which is otherwise known as the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
This build contains a lot of fixes for bugs that have been found on previous testing releases and it contains a handful of new features on the PC side.
It is also very obvious in the notes about this build that several fit and finish items have been addressed to continue taking care of that aspect of the releases development.
In fact, just to set some expectations about the next 5 or 6 weeks leading up to the expected 29 July release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, you should be ready to see fewer new features added to subsequent builds. The focus now shifts to smashing bugs and putting in the nice to have visual tweaks that make things look more finished.
In my testing lab this build has made its way onto an HP Spectre x360, a Surface Book and my Lumia 950 and so I will be keeping an eye on how things progress and share those discoveries along the way.
