Twitter bought the Vine video service back in 2012 for around $30 million dollars just before it was scheduled to publicly launch. Twitter wanted their own video sharing/creation service and the short six second videos fit well within the micro-blogging services 140 character tweets.

Although Windows Phone got its own version of the Vine app back in late 2013 there has not been any option on the Windows desktop.

Last week though, Vine Labs, released a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app for Vine that is for Windows 10 desktops and tablets and hopefully the release of the UWP version will result in a new app on Windows 10 Mobile as well. Currently the version of Vine on Windows mobile is the older Windows Phone 8 era version and dates back to late 2013.

This gallery will give you a walk through the desktop and tablet version of the new UWP app. One nice feature of the new app is that you do not need an account to browse through the videos plus you can upload videos through the new app for editing and publication on Vine as well.

Download the desktop Vine app from the Windows Store.
