Microsoft Lumia 535 Preview

Yep, nothing special

As expected, Microsoft announced the Lumia 535 today, the first Lumia to use Microsoft rather than Nokia branding. Basically, it's yet another low-end handset with a Lumia 735-like selfie camera, replaceable color covers, and dual-SIM support. Here's a complete run-down of the specs with some notes.

Processor. 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200. This is disappointing, and is even worse than the Snapdragon 400 in the Lumia 635, 735, and 830.

RAM. 1 GB.

Storage. 8 GB internal, up to 128 GB via microSD expansion.

Display. 5-inch qHD (960 x 540) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3. This is a bit of an oddity, though we knew such displays were coming to Windows Phone. I don't see the words "ClearBlack" anywhere.

Cameras. 5 megapixel main camera with auto focus and f/2.4 aperture, and 864 x 480 video recording. Front camera is a 5 megapixel "selfie" camera with a fixed focus.

Connectivity. GSM/EDGE/WCDMA with one or two micro SIMs, Wi-Fi BGN, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE, USB 2.0.

Sensors. Accelerometer, ambient light sensor, A-GPS, GPS, proximity.

Audio. 3.5 mm AHJ connector, single microphone with noise reduction, mono speaker, FM radio.

OS. Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim firmware.

Colors. Green, orange, cyan, white, black, dark gray.

Hardware buttons. Power, volume up, volume down. This means there's no dedicated camera button (boo), and the Back, Start, Search buttons are implemented in software via an onscreen navigation bar.

Size. 140.2 x 72.45 x 8.8 mm.

Weight. 146 grams.

Battery. 1905 mAh removable (BL-L4A).

Talk times. GSM, up to 11 hours. 3G, up to 13 hours. 2G standby time, 546 hours. 3G standby time, 540 hours.

In the box. Lumia 535 dual-SIM handset, AC-18 charger, user guide, WH-108 headset.

Available accessories. Cover for Lumia 535 (various colors), The Boom headset by Coloud, The Bang speaker by Coloud.

Price. 110 euros, available in November in China, Hong Kong and Bangladesh, with other countries to follow.

Here's a video. More soon.
