Tip: Quicker Microsoft Band Charging

When at my desk working, I usually have my Microsoft Band sitting in the charging stand, connected to my PC. That way I can glance down at the time pretty easily, have the band fully charged when I'm ready to get up and do something exercise-y, and, until recently, have it constantly connected, using the desktop synch app, for updating the Microsoft Health dashboard. It's part of my overall charging routine plan. But, with the Microsoft Band suffering from a known issue with the desktop sync app (read about that HERE), and no solution in sight, what's the use of keeping it connected that way. Plus, since the revelation of the synching issue, the band tries to connect periodically and when it does the PC emits that USB connection and then de-connection sound constantly. It can get pretty annoying.

Because of this, I've taken to connecting the band directly to a power source instead of the powered USB port. This may be a no-brainer to most of you, but I surprised at the improved rate at which the band charges. Apparently, the USB port just doesn't pull enough power to give the band enough charging strength.

So, if you need a charge quickly, opt for connecting directly to a power source instead of a powered USB port.

I still use the charging stand and still have the band sitting close enough to glance at the time, but now it completes a charge cycle in a third of the time.
