The Other Surface Hardware Announced at #MicrosoftEvent

At this week's #MicrosoftEvent in New York City the star of the show was most certainly Surface Studio and its category creating design and innovations.

Of course, as an All-In-One style device it comes with a keyboard and mouse by default, and since it is a Surface device it also comes with the Surface Pen. But don't discount the peripherals that users rely on for typing and mousing.

What was not announced on stage is that those peripherals, the Surface Keyboard and Surface Mouse, are available for separate purchase from Microsoft directly. In addition, a very high end Surface Ergonomic Keyboard has also been built to compliment your own Surface device.

These items are already available for pre-order from the Microsoft Store online and wil be available in the coming weeks.

Here are the details and descriptions from Microsoft for each of them:

Surface Keyboard

  • Meticulously crafted, just like Surface
  • Sleek and simple design
  • Optimized feedback and return force
  • Bluetooth 4.0

The Surface Keyboard will cost $99.99 and will be available on the 10th of November.

Surface Ergonomic Keyboard

  • Designed for productivity and advanced comfort
  • Natural arc and slope
  • Palm rest covered in stunning two-tone grey mélange Alcantara
  • Bluetooth 4.0

The Surface Ergonomic Keyboard will cost $129.99 and will be available on 21 November.

Surface Mouse

  • Meticulously crafted, just like Surface
  • Sleek, simple design
  • Metal scroll wheel
  • Bluetooth 4.0

The Surface Mouse costs $49.99 and will become available on 10 November.

I have never been a fan of ergonomic keyboards, but the Surface Keyboard felt great when I tried it at the #MicrosoftEvent Showcase. Keyboards are my nemesis: I am pretty hard on them, so my curiosity is piqued to see if maybe the Surface Keyboard can tolerate my usage style.
