If you attended BUILD 2015 then you would have come away from that event with an HP Spectre x360 that had 8GB of RAM, Intel Core i5 CPU (2.2 GHz), 128GB SSD, 13.3 inch screen (1920 x 1080 HD) and is running Windows 8.1.
That system, which Rod reviewed earlier this week, was specially built by HP for Microsoft and its BUILD attendees. It is model 13t-4000 and product number K6C18AV.
If you go to the HP website you will not find this unique configuration as a purchase option and, while the other versions of the Spectre likely use similar hardware, it is always best to access software and drivers for your specific configuration.
To do that for the BUILD HP Spectre x360 just open your web browser and head to the support page for the HP Spectre x360 Model 13t-4000.
Click on Software and Drivers and allow the HP Support website to scan your system for updates and any that are out of date will be highlighted for you.
Of course, you can also manually check for the latest drivers as well.
Note: These updates are for Windows 8.1 only. If you are running Windows 10 on the Spectre x360 already then you will find the latest drivers for Windows 10 on the Build 2015 website.
When I ran this check earlier today I did find a significant BIOS update and a new HD audio driver available and updated each of them on my system without any issues.
The BIOS update, which takes the system to version F.12 Rev.A, is dated 21 April 2015 and provides fixes for these issues:
- Fixes an intermittent issue which causes the system to shutdown unexpectedly.
- Fixes an intermittent issue where the system displays a fan fault alert message in error when the fan is functioning properly. - Provides an improved help message for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) state in the F10 BIOS setup option.
- Provides the ability to enable or disable the audible password prompt (beep) for the BIOS administrator login or Power-On Password. The audible prompt is disabled when the Power On Self-Test (POST) Hotkey Delay setting is set to 0.
Yesterday Rod talked to HP about the Spectre and the lag on the touch screen inputs, which he mentioned in his review, and he was told a new driver will correct that issue. As soon as we know about the availability of that update we will be sure to share it here on the SuperSite.
